A Delightful Meal at Peels Restaurant – Hampton Manor

Last night I had the privilege of eating out at Peels Restaurant at Hampton Manor. The night was a showcase of the new menu and new restaurant that has been relocated to a different room within Hampton Manor.

The night started with a wonderful welcome from Seamus Sharkey who was extremely knowledgable about the menu and drinks all evening. Hotel owner James Hill was equally welcoming and absolutely made our night showing us around the new kitchen and tasting room.

On arrival we were seated in the beautiful bar just of the reception area where we were treated to some lovely canapes. I also had a pint of the best draught lager I have ever tasted – Curious Brew

We were presented with various menus including two taster menus that were fully explained to us and all equally looked amazing. I wanted everything so it was quite hard to choose.

Following our order we were taken through to the new Peels Restaurant which was beautifully intimate and created the perfect atmosphere. The new Peels restaurant has fewer covers than the previous Peels Restaurant but this works perfectly for the food and atmosphere that they are creating. It was exquisitely decorated and created the perfect ambience.

We had too many fantastic courses of food (9 in total) throughout the night to write about each one so I will pick my favourites. The scallops and snails dish was out of this world. The scallop just melted in my mouth and was the best I have ever tasted. The beef dish was cooked and seasoned to perfection and was equally mouth watering. We had a coconut sorbet that tasted unlike anything I have eaten before (in a good way) as a pre desert course and the chocolate desert was the best I have ever tasted!

Head Chef Ryan Swift has clearly thought in depth about every flavour on every plate of food. Each was a masterpiece in its own right and made me look forward to the next. I have no idea how Ryan and his team craft some of dishes on the menu but having met them after the meal I honestly feel that such a young, creative team will achieve great things at Peels Restaurant.

The front of house staff were equally amazing – polite, knowledgeable,  friendly and very professional.

Everything about our evening was perfect. If you go for a meal at Peels Restaurant you are truly in for an incredible culinary experience that will create flavours that dance harmoniously on your tongue. I would recommend a visit to Peels/Hampton Manor to anyone.
