Have you ever thought about that first day? Yep, that one.
The big one. The first day of… HIGH SCHOOL.

Over the last five months, five brave groups from Four Dwellings School in Birmingham have been competing to tell the untold story of the century with their own exciting adventures of starting high school. On March 5th 2018, each group pitched their book idea to the ‘Lion’s Lair’ and the winners were selected by a panel of expert judges.

The Brief.

The brief was to create a thought-provoking and engaging fully responsive website in order to aid in supporting students as they make the transition from junior to high school.

Partnership for Children supports positive mental health in children around the world. They see both a need and opportunity to do more to achieve their vision of a world in which the development of mental health and emotional resilience is part of life for every child – at home, at school, and in the community.

What we did.

We worked in partnership with Wesleyan, the author BB Taylor and children’s book illustrator to create a fully responsive website to create an online presence for the children’s book ‘Curse of the Nomed’.

Firstly, we conducted a workshop which allowed to really understand how twelve-year-olds interact with all digital platforms and digest digital content. This was a vital component which allowed us design and build a website which answered the project brief and appealed to the intended market.

It was crucial that we regularly engaged with the stakeholders involved in the project to ensure that all of the artwork provided was suitable for multiple devices creating the optimum user experience.

It was an amazing experience for us to work on a web project which had to visually appeal to a much younger demographic profile, therefore, allowed us to be more experimental with the design approach.

The website provides a robust platform to raise money and awareness for the amazing and vital work that Partnership for Children do in supporting positive mental health in children around the world.

The fully published book is available to be purchased from Waterstones or Foyles.
